Assessment Policy & Schedule

Chrysalis:

The Early Years Program is a blend of experiential learning and a gradual building up of skills for the Foundation Years. While we realize the importance of nurturing the natural curiosity of a child and letting every child develop and learn at their own pace, we also believe in step by step building up of skills so that the child is ready to take on the academic and other challenges of a higher grade. Our early years program is testimony of that.

The concept of assessing children during the teaching-learning process becomes important here. When this information is used to adapt teaching methods to help improve student understanding, it is termed as ‘formative assessment’. In simpler words, assessment can occur within the classroom during the teaching-learning process as long as teachers identify assessment opportunities, observe students on their understanding, and arrive at conclusions on whether the child has understood the concept or not. The teacher can then alter her/his teaching methods to ensure the child learns better.

Chrysalis Think Room makes it easier for the teacher to conduct formative assessment by already providing assessment opportunities in the Studio! The Studios have ‘spaces for expression’ where children are encouraged to express their conceptual understanding and other skills

CBSE

There are four common types of testing in schools today—diagnostic, formative, benchmark (or interim), and summative.

The exam will be conducted by CBSE for 80 marks and other 20 marks are kept with schools for internal assessment. CBSE has issued detailed guidelines on how the internal marks will be divided among different activities. The same scheme of assessment will be applicable to classes VI to X in all CBSE affiliated schools.

Multiple Assessment includes Oral Test, Group/Individual Assessment, Maps, Graphics, Activities, Assignments, etc., Multiple Assessments and Portfolio
